Prayer and the hearts of children

The heart of a child is so pure, and hearing them pray is such a great blessing, as those little but enormous hearts shine with their words of love. Every parent who believes in Jesus should take time each day to teach, listen, and encourage their children to pray.

It’s a true gift to experience the thoughts and words of the pure heart as our children pray for people, topics, and concerns that come to those little minds. While they repeat what you taught about approaching God in Jesus’ name, encourage them to add their own thoughts rather than a cut-and-paste memorized prayer, and you will find these moments are both precious and informative. Just listen, learn, and absorb as they share their hearts with our Heavenly Father. Listening to them pray can easily become some of the best memories you ever experience as you share the love of Jesus with them; it is downright inspirational.

We can learn so much from the hearts of children. Make and prioritize this time, and you’ll never regret it!

Jesus Completes Me

GOD -FOR EMERGENCY USE ONLY?

As a young adult, I remember thinking and touting that no matter what my plight, I can make the best of any situation. Now, as an aged Adult, my thoughts and words have been severely tested. What I should have been thinking and saying is that with Christ, no matter what my plight, we can make the best of any situation.  Virginia and I lived many of our early years together, treating God as if He were in a drawer labeled ” FOR EMERGENCY USE ONLY.”  Looking back, I now recognize many lifelong repercussions from those years. Without Christ and His Church at the forefront and center of our lives, we were broken wrecks, unintentionally causing trickle-down harm through our choices by our examples.

Like us in these early days, many who are not baptized into Christ, who do not put God First in their lives, and who are not an active part of the Church Christ established, may not understand what I am saying here, but I can tell you our lives and relationship became significantly better after we chose to include and live for Christ daily.

Only through understanding, belief, and doing God’s will according to His will, in other words, through our faith in Christ, did we have the strength and comfort needed to endure some of the most difficult times—unexpected losses, financial struggles, and, currently, my wife’s Alzheimer’s. Without Jesus, we are broken; with Jesus, we are whole.

In the 1996 movie Jerry Maguire, a now-famous line is: “You complete me!”

This is what Jesus really does for those who pick up the cross and follow Him. Jesus completes us!

The Apostle Paul had it right…

“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:11)

We Can Do All Things Through Him who strengthens us.

HATRED IS NOT FUNNY!

Take a stand, be the example

In 2026, several Hollywood elites, TV shows, and news personalities seem to believe and justify the idea that hatred, disrespect, and often foul language are now funny, even required to make their points and get attention. Of course, they would never agree with this assessment, yet their actions and words show how true it is.

HATRED IS NOT FUNNY

Hateful actions are not funny, Hateful pictures are not funny, Hateful words are not funny. Hateful videos are not funny. Laughing and sharing hateful things encourages hateful things. Stop it, please! Instead of laughing at and justifying gossip and hate, encourage kindness, make a positive difference, inspire positive change, and help remove hate from the overall equation.

We have a choice!

Don’t laugh, don’t justify, don’t encourage, change the channel, walk away, take a stand, and protect your heart and soul. “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” (See Philippians 4:8)  

It is what it is, but it will be what you make of it!

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:29-32 ESV

God knows what we will do, so why Why Test US?

God’s Test – Why test us?

God is all-knowing, so if inclined, God has the ability to know what choice we will make when He puts us to the test, so why test us? Maybe the testing is not for God’s benefit but rather for our benefit, and/or for those whom we are examples. Our response to God’s test could help ground our faith or prompt us to seek answers in His Word, to seek Him in prayer, or to cast our anxieties on Jesus, things that solidify our trust and deepen our root system.

Realizing our failures can have the same effect. We may not realize we are being tested, but each of us knows in our hearts whether we are doing right or wrong. Abraham was put to the test with his choice regarding sacrificing Issac.

As Abraham passed the test, he gained from the trial. If God were so inclined, He could know whether Abraham would pass the test, but in Abraham’s case, we learn from his story and his example to this day.

As the rooster crows three times, Peter failed his test, and Jesus knew he would. Still, in his disappointment and sorrow, Peter became even more committed after Jesus returned and later ascended into heaven—another example to all who read his story. Even Jesus was tested, but because He knew scripture, He answered the test with scripture.

Let us study so that we may confront the test with God’s Word in our hearts.

Faithful Christians in Government

If politicians were faithful Christians, corruption would not be an issue. Lies and Deceit would not be an issue. If we love Christ, we keep His commandments, no matter our role in this world. Love of God and our neighbors are the two Greatest commands.

The keyword to this statement is “Faithful “- those who are continuously striving to be Christ-like, to love others as Christ loved us!

You can’t love two masters, such as greed and God.

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

In Christ, we have access to the power of God

In Christ, we have access to the power of God

God: Unseen by the human eye, yet His power and love are evident in all of creation. Through Jesus, we are encouraged to tap into God’s power. Scripture tells us that if we draw closer to God, He draws closer to us, that we should work toward righteousness and demonstrate our love by keeping the commandments of Jesus. Although we live in the world, we should not be of the world, so far as it depends on us, we are to live peaceably with all.

If God is with us, who can be against us!

IN Christ, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, who intercedes with our prayers.
IN Christ and through Christ, we can petition God in faithful, fervent prayer.
IN Christ, we have God’s ear; we can turn those” out of our control” burdens over to Him and trust in Him.
IN Christ, the God of all comfort, helps us in times of suffering.
IN Christ, we can have peace that surpasses understanding.

Scripture tells us how to be” IN Christ,”

“for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.” (Galatians 3:26-29)

When my father was still alive, I had this dream. We were finishing a project we had been working on together and were about to head our separate ways. In the dream, I asked Dad if he could do the next task on his own.

Dad said, “We do what we do when we need to do it. I responded, “It’s the way it’s always been!” (I then woke up) Reflecting on the dream, those words have enormous truths.

When tasks were daunting or seemed overwhelmingly difficult to accomplish single-handedly on their own, both my dad and his father were known for rolling up their sleeves and finding ways to accomplish seemingly insurmountable or downright impossible tasks. Their determination and ability always inspired me, and one reason I believed my Dad when he told me:

“You can be anything you want to be if you are willing to work at it. “

I am very thankful for the many lessons I learned from my father, and that he had the wherewithal to put God at the forefront of our home and live accordingly, secularly or spiritually, with God; all things are possible!

  • If you’re ugly – so what!
  • If you’re poor – so what!
  • If you’re rich – so what!

My actions are not decided by skin color, appearance, status or if someone is black, white, yellow, green, purple, or red… So, what!

When I wave at you, I wave at a soul; when I smile at you, I smile at a soul, but more importantly, when God looks at you, He sees your soul. When God looks at you, He sees your heart and knows your mind.

Let us always live to bring honor and glory to God, striving to be someone after God’s own heart, willing to do all God’s Will to the best of our ability, and we will be pleasing to the loving eyes of God.

“And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.”

Hope Ends – Faith Ends – Belief Ends – All False teachings End

Our Eternal Reality Begins

Are you ready?

On Judgment Day, in a twinkling of an eye, all our Hope, faith, and belief disappear as we face the reality of the choices we face today.

Every Truth we shared that brought someone to Christ or every false teaching we adopted, repeated, or promoted leading us and others away from Christ will become part of our fate, part of our judgment. It is so important that we don’t accept others’ words but rather question and study God’s word. God gave us Truth, Example, Inferences, and References to follow in His Word. If we find a contradiction, it shows our understanding is wrong – seek the truth in God’s word, believing false teaching has serious consequences.

“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4 ESV

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.” 2 Corinthians 5:10 ESV

Pray- Then Choose Pray Continually

Praying without ceasing

According to Thessalonians 5:17, we are to “Pray without ceasing.” What does this mean? If we think about it, praying without ceasing or continually would mean that in all things, our minds stay focused on pleasing God. If this is where we focus, then we instinctively include God in our thoughts and decisions. Praying “prior” to making decisions (big or small), seeking “God’s will” to be done rather than just doing “our will” and then praying God’s ok with it.

When we make decisions, do we pray for wisdom, help, and discernment beforehand, or only afterward, when we realize we need help with the results of our decision?

Is God’s will, our will? Or do we treat our will as if it should be God’s will, and pray that He will help us with the repercussions of our decision?

For example, we buy a new car without praying God will help us find the best car for our needs, then, after the fact, we find ourselves going to God, praying for help with payments or repairs. Of course, this is hypothetical, but maybe including God beforehand would put us into a vehicle we could afford without repairs we can’t afford.

God wants to hear from us. Pray often and pray for those things that would align with the heart of God.
