God gave us boundaries like a fence to protect us; when we push through them, we become victims.

  •  “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

Don’t become a victim. learn and adopt God’s ways from His Word, put your faith in Jesus, keep His commandments, and trust in God, press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

  • “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.  Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,  and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:10-17

In Acts 20:35, Luke records the words of Paul to the Ephesian Elders, where he instructed them to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said,  

“IT’S MORE BLESSED TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE”

Give What?

In part: • Time • Money • Food • Compassion • Love • Service

Give to whom?

• Spouses • Children • Family • Christians • Widows • Orphans • Elderly • Strangers • Those in need

All commandments are summed up in love.

“Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” – Romans 13:10

“Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.” Galatians 6:9

Worldly means vs. The good life!

“Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” This verse from Luke 9:62 really stands out to me; Why? Because I spent and regret several years of my life with skewed priorities.

I spent years doing what I wanted, seeking fun, money, adventure, and things. Attempting to find and express my worth to self and others through what scripture refers to as “worldly means.”

During this part of life, I sought wisdom in my own eyes. Self-indulgent, manipulating wisdom. As a result, I spent years treating our Creator as if He only mattered when nothing else did, and one big issue here is, I knew better!  

I already had a good understanding of the life God gives us through scripture, “The Good Life.” I was already aware that much of what I was doing went against God’s will for us. As a result, I lived those years apart from God, not truly realizing the huge negative impact I was having on others.

If I were to look back and pine for those old times or long for that old lifestyle, it would indicate that my love for Christ is neither hot nor cold but rather lukewarm. In doing so, I would NOT be looking toward Jesus, and, as Scripture puts it, the path I plow would become crooked. How, then, would I be fit for the Kingdom of heaven?

I would essentially be longing for a time when I was” apart from God.” I never want to long for those days again; life is so much better with Jesus as my shepherd who leads me beside quiet waters that guide me towards peace within.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:1-6

Jesus Tells Us:

“I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. “Revelation 3:16-17

“For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,” Hebrews 10:26

  • Hebrews 6:4-12 (Crucify Him again)

Breaking Fake News Don't be gullible, test everything against God's Word

Fake news is nothing new to Christians. We have been bombarded with Fake News since the beginning of Christianity. Jesus’s disciples and apostles spread the Good News of our salvation through Christ by telling of Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection, and what we must do to be saved. They established congregations and provided examples of Church actions, worship, and leadership.

Many of the letters we find in the New Testament address “Fake News,” and it continues today. Our world is full of Fake News in Christianity, but there’s good news.

We don’t have to be gullible!

God gave us the means to discern the Truth from the Fake.

The Bible is 66 books of Inspired Words from God, which we can compare to the desires and teachings we hear from all sorts of well-intended, possibly agenda-driven people.

The Truth is not found in what someone says of God’s Word but in what God’s Word actually says.

1 John 4:1
“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

Worldly Wealth Ends, Love Transcends

I read an article about a man who founded many U.S. companies. He amassed great wealth, created many jobs, and earned much respect. The man died in 1919. Today, few know much about him.

Jesus tells us:

  • ~ It’s not about this world.
  • ~ to lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven.
  • ~ Where our treasure is, there our heart will be also.
  • ~ if you love Me, you’ll keep My commandments.
  • ~ The greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
  • ~ The second greatest commandment is to love our neighbor as ourselves.
  • ~ There is no greater commandment than these.

When we love as described in these commandments, we love as “the poor in spirit.” Although all are sinners and unworthy of God’s love, the poor in spirit recognize and appreciate the greatness of God’s love, God’s grace, and the sacrifice given in our stead. The poor in spirit realize that all good gifts come from above, that accomplishments are not ours alone but happen as blessings from God, with God’s help, so joyfully proclaim to God be the glory!

While there’s nothing wrong with amassing great wealth, the challenge is keeping our hearts focused on the treasures of heaven: keeping God First in our hearts; keeping His commandments; and doing His will through our actions of love for Him and towards others, remembering that our accomplishments are blessings, far from ours alone.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James 1:17

Rather than whine PRAY

Pray and do – Draw closer to God

  • Rather than following your desires, follow God’s for you (Titus 2:11-14)
  • God is waiting for you to follow His Word as He intended. (John 6:40)

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“ Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Mark 16:16

“Then Jesus told His disciples, ‘If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.” Matthew 16:24 ESV

From the beginning of creation, God’s Word has been Truth and nothing but Truth, and it will continue to be so to the end of time as we know it. God is Unchanging, God is Love, God is Good, God does not Lie! When someone discounts the importance of Scripture or flat-out dismisses it, they dismiss God, effectively deciding they know better than God. According to God’s Word, all of scripture is God-breathed. In other words, all of Scripture is inspired by God, giving us what God wants us to know and follow (see 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

If someone says they don’t believe “ALL” scripture is from God, or that it really means something other than what is stated, are they not calling God a liar or implying God goofed? If scripture tells you something is wrong one time, yet society, someone, or a culture tells you it’s ok or meant differently than what you can read, who’s right? — My answer is God!

When Scripture is pointed out, many respond: “Well, that’s your interpretation.” However, scripture tells us: “knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation.” (2 Peter 1:20) In other words, Scripture is from God.

In 1 Corinthians 14:33, scripture states: “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”

God did not provide us with a book of confusion.

Some try to reinterpret the Greek to force an interpretation that yields their desired result; however, in this effort, the problem is not with God’s Word.  No, the problem is with the individual seeking an answer different from what’s in God’s Word. God’s Word is true, as written for our understanding, not our confusion.

We don’t need to be Greek scholars to understand God’s face value meaning. So, if one believes in God and that the Bible is God’s Word, they should also understand that Scripture has only one correct answer, the one that God intended, and that answer will not contradict any other scriptures.

“The unfolding of the words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple” Psalms 119:30

Scripture also gives us a STARK WARNING:

“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.” Revelation 22:18-19

This picture is of a space shuttle leaving the atmosphere. It was taken from space by NASA a few years back, where a writer noted: “Amazing, isn’t it? How nano we are in the cosmic scale.” God’s creation is larger than anyone can truly comprehend, and we, even more “Nano” on a cosmic scale than this space shuttle.

God created us in His image!

He loves, knows, and Cares about every single one of us; He knows how many hairs are on our heads. Matthew 10:30 and Luke 12:7

God sees everything!

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Watching the evil and the good.” Proverbs 15:3

“Does He not see my ways And number all my steps?” Job 31:4

“God gave His only begotten Son that we may not perish but have everlasting life, should we choose to love Jesus enough to keep God’s commandments.” John 4:16

Although you are Nano in comparison to all of creation, you and each of us are known and loved by God as if we were the whole of creation.

What can we give God?

What can we give to God?

During the days of creation, we find the phrase, “And God saw that it was good,” repeated several times. However, it was not until God created man in His image that scripture tells us, “God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was VERY GOOD. (Genesis 1:31)

We are God’s creation!

“For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 )

God is the creator of everything we see and comprehend; everything our minds think we know and understand; it’s all from God. So, what can we offer to God that He wants?

God wants us to recognize that He is the only God and that Jesus is His Son, who was with God at Creation. (John 1:1-5) He wants us to know that salvation comes only through the innocence of Jesus, who was sacrificed for our sins and then raised by God to sit at his right hand in heaven; King of Kings, Lord of Lords, only through Christ do we have hope of eternal life with God. He wants us to know that Jesus has prepared a heavenly home for us beyond this world if we choose to accept His grace and keep His commandments. God wants us to know that on the day of judgment, our souls will be given new heavenly bodies for our never-ending life, and He tells us so in His Word. ( See 2 Corinthians 5:1-10, Philippians 3:20-21, John 14:3-10)

So again, what can we offer God that God really wants?

God has given us every reason to love Him; He has given us the freedom to choose good over evil, and He wants us to love Him.

LOVE, love is the only thing we can give that God seeks from us, not by force but by choice.

May we all seek God first in our lives, love each other as Christ has loved us, and show Jesus that we love Him by keeping His commandments. This is what God seeks, it’s what God wants, and what God wants to reward us for.

The Greatest Command:  ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-34
